GFZ – Liberty. Those that trade their liberty for the promise of security shall receive neither. Our fellow Piece Keeper Benjamin Franklin couldn’t have said that better! One can see this in all aspects of our lives…every time a new law passes, we are surrendering our liberty for their promise of security. When big brother steps in and bans guns, or gun parts, they are promising security in exchange for your liberty. They promise that it will make society safer, and reduce crime. Unfortunately the opposite happens since criminals don’t follow law, and an unarmed man can be attacked with much greater confidence than an armed man. Areas such as “Gun-Free Zones” which totally ban guns, accounted for 96.2% of mass public shootings between January of 1998 and December of 2015, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center.
Those of us that study history and follow current global events realize that Ben Franklin was correct…they promise, but they can’t deliver. Where some live, it can take law enforcement over an hour to arrive on scene, whereas in the big cities it may take over 10 minutes (if you can manage to get your phone out and dial a number while being attacked). On the other hand, it takes milliseconds for a properly trained Piece Keeper to draw their handgun and defend themself. As good stewards of our founding documents and principles, we’d rather keep our freedom, than surrender it for the promise of security.
